Middleton-House and Company

Monday, July 30th, 2007

Ruth Middleton House of & Company website">Middleton-House & Company had this to say about my work on their website:

It has been a great pleasure to work with Vincent Maglione of Big Sweater Design on our new website.

For one thing, we are delighted with the results. (more...)

I am not a motivational speaker.

I've been trying to find motivation and inspiration wherever I can lately. It came from an unexpected source earlier this afternoon: the last question of an interview on a popular weblog.

The writers of a blog I read regularly called FreelanceSwitch (it's an excellent resource for anybody looking to do freelance anything) were recently interviewed by another blog. The interviewer, Adriaan, asked them if they had any tips for other freelancers.

Mas sketches etc

Wednesday, July 25th, 2007

I recently did a few sketches for the Artbook Coalition, a social network started on Ning by my talented friend Eric Terry. It's a network that we use to send sketchbooks around and have individual artists take a few pages.

I kept the book a bit too long — sorry about that Eric!

You can see the work in the sketchbook, so be sure to check it out. I'm not that great, and these sketches are worse, to be frank, but they're here for posterity.

I've hit the big time.

Whoa. Huge jump in traffic these last two days.

Why?

Because this very site was featured on the venerable Daily Slurp, as well as another CSS gallery that I've never heard of, Morpheed CSS, both on July 23, 2007.

Quite exciting! I submitted the site to Daily Slurp, but Morpheed must have picked it up from them...either way, I'm getting some unexpected (and very welcome!) recognition and traffic.

Many thanks to both sites for recognizing me! Perhaps other galleries will follow suit, but even if they don't, I really do appreciate the recognition.

New sketches, etc.

Wednesday, July 18th, 2007

I just dumped a whole mess of new sketches into the sketchbook. Actually, they're not new, but I'm just getting around to uploading them.

Feedback on the site has been really great so far! Everybody seems to like it, which is exciting. There's also been some constructive criticism, which I'll be using to (hopefully) improve it. Suggestions have ranged from "fonts are too small" to "move this thing two pixels to the left", and while I can't implement all the requested changes (you can't please everybody), I'll do my best to make this site as good as it can be.

Thank you for all the feedback, though! And keep it coming.
